Poopy Prizes

So for the past 6 days Ammon has been wearing Big Boy Undapants! This is the most glorious thing that can happen to a mother. Although Ammon is very good at urinating, he is having a very difficult time pooping. He cries and cries the whole time he is on the toilet and says "I can't do it, I'm Scared, my bum is not working, and oh nononono.." So I am a mean mom and won't let him get off the toilet until he pushes out a little nugget. I told him how cool it is when the poo splashes the water. I push with him. I tell him to pretend he is Batman or Spiderman, they are very good pushers... Yet he still cried and screamed and kept asking to get off the potty. So I told him to take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. He was so cute when he was deep breathing. Then he calmed down a little. Only to start crying again when he started to push. Dang it! So Brian came in and I asked him to give Ammy a blessing. Ammon was so quiet there on the potty for the entire blessing. After he said that Jesus was going to help him. He pushed one time and sure enough came out a nice poo. He pushed again and the deed was done. What a miracle it was... A small miracle but one none the less. I started to cry. God does listen and helps us in times of need. Even on the potty.
Ammon is still scared of going poop. He has held the poo now for 4 days. I don't know what to do. Any advice???

Oh, Nicole. What a sweet story. I think you're the most creative potty trainer on the whole planet earth. Although I don't have any advice whatsoever on potty training, I just wanted you to know what a good mommy you are and what a good daddy Brian is. Push, push push!

You crack me up girl. Only you could write a story like that and make me laugh. Poor guy!!! For once in my life I have no advice. But tonz of wishes of good luck!!!
Sorry. Maybe use stickers on a piece of paper and if he fills the paper, like 5 stickers. He gets a prize, like an action figure. That way you can increase the amount of stickers and it still makes sense to him. Have the toy sitting so he can see it all the time in the bathroom. Make sure to count your paper though so he'll know when he has to do it just two more times or something. Good luck!! May the the FORCE be with you!!

Oh...Yes... This one is a tuff one.... When I potty trained all my kids, they got to unwrap a small gift every time they when poop. AND when they went pee they got a small candy. (I had to give them an incentive.) Taje loved Matchbox cars and dollar store stuff. Skittles and M&M's work great too. Does he have a potty seat to sit on? The cushion ones are the best and you can get them any where. But more then anything... You are doing a great job and it just takes Time. Soon enough Ammon will know that it doesn't hurt to go potty and he will go willingly. Now advice as a nurse is to watch out for constipation. If he does tend to get a little plugged make sure he is getting enough water intake and you can also slip him some fiberous foods. (A little prune juice can help too. Just ask Grandma.) Good luck to you, you are amazing.
